WHY I CHOSE PRAHLADRAI DALMIA LIONS COLLEGE?

So I am a newbie and this is my first blog, I was always a lazy person who had no interest in writing stuff and blogs, but you know there’s some point where someone comes into your life and shows you a new path. The new path, which I got, was from the teachers of Prahladrai Dalmia Lions College. The story starts from the past where I just finished my S.S.C exams and wanting to go to PDLC, as the college was close to my house (laughs), well it’s not only about the college being near but I always heard many beautiful gossips about PDLC from my granny who stays just a road ahead from the college. I started getting interested and listened to her speaking everything, like how the college organizes talent shows, competitions, field trips, and many more amazing things. As my dream is to be an animator in the future days, I didn’t know which course would be the best, but after researching I found out that B.M.M is the right choice for me and you know what BINGO, PDLC was already known for B.M.M mostly. I was excited to be a part of the college, but unfortunately, after my results, my grades were low to get admission. I did not give up; I finished my H.S.C boards, cleared it out, and got good grades. Finally got my name on the college admission list. My family were happy and surely me too. It was a bit sad as the pandemic and lockdown took place but the teachers handling everything even in this period was amazing and encouraging students to participate even in online lectures. Therefore, here is how I joined PDLC and being a lazy person writing a whole blog is a big achievement for me. Thanks to every teaching staff and class CR’S encouraging me to do this. Thank you.

Social media the new Adda of Millennials

The social media has become a hub for all the youth in this new age. With social media becoming the ADDA there has been new innovation in the social media field, with upcoming of apps like club house, telegram, Omelet etc., youngsters are also coming up with the new business ideas with social media and expanding the entrepreneurial skills for India, by means of Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp they are running businesses. Social media has also become a portal for new professional avenue. Apps like Instagram have also opened their ways of showing new talent by means of reels, which has also become a lucrative business for the millennials. Social media has not only open doors to new avenues and bring people closer but also has adverse effect on the youth. The millennials have become such social media addicts that it has become very instinctive to judge or trust people. Lot of explicit, bold (nudity), violent and unpleasant content is being shared on social media, which also effects the mental health as it is creating a pressure among the millennials. Social Media platforms need to come with more strict rules and regulation to supervise the content that is uploaded by the Social Media.
Now it is no more the times of corporate rat race instead it has become social media rat race. There is no bar for any specific kind of content it is free at anybody’s disposal, hence, it is positive as well as negative aspect of social media. Social media is only the platform of communication but has also become means of earning, educating and personal growth. There is also growth in the employment sector due to social media with no age bar and specific educational qualification. A profession like digital marketing, influencers, social media managers and content creators have provided platforms for millennials without any work experience. Because of the growth in the social media field, preference is given to millennials over experienced people because they are more up to date with the social media platforms and content than the older school folks.

How to train yourself to be focused ?

If there is one thing we could all probably use a lot more of, it is the ability to focus. However, telling yourself to stay focused on a task, especially a mundane one, is often a lot easier said than done. Several techniques can help you zone in on the task in front of you. If you need help staying focused… Get rid of distractions First things first: You need to eliminate distractions. While you cannot do away with everything, you can make an effort to reduce or get rid of as many distractions as possible.
Start with the simple things like moving to a quiet area. Turning off notifications on your phone or turning your phone off altogether. Closing the door to your office. Telling those around you not to distract you for some time. Closing out of programs or apps that are not essential on your computer. Practice the Commodore technique. Staying focused helps you are more done in less time. While that sounds simple enough, it is not always easy to put into practice. So, the next time you are wrestling with your attention span, try the Commodore technique. This timing method helps you train your brain to stay on task for short periods. Here is how it works: Set your timer for 25 minutes and get to work. When the buzzer sounds, take a 5-minute break. Then, set the timer again and get back to work. Once you have done four rounds of this, you can take a longer break, approximately 20 to 30 minutes. Put a lock on social media. If your idea of a break from work is checking Facebook or Instagram every 5 minutes, you may want to consider an app that blocks social media. Several apps work for your phone, tablet, or computer. In addition to social media, some of these distraction-busting programs also allow you to block online games, as well as apps and sites like YouTube, Netflix, Amazon, Twitter, text messages, and even emails. Some of the most popular social media blockers include Freedom, AppBlock, Focus Me, and Focus
Fuel your body. We all know what happens when a “hanger” strikes. This dreaded combination of hunger and anger is a major focus fail. So, to keep your brain focused, your energy levels up, and your emotions on an even keel, make sure you do not delay or skip meals. Try to balance lean protein, complex carbohydrates, and healthy fats to stay fuelled. Snack on fresh fruit, veggies, nuts, or seeds if you get hungry between meals, and be sure to keep yourself hydrated with plenty of water.
In addition, for an extra boost, Harvard Medical School says to include a few of these “best brain foods” in your day: Green, leafy vegetables like kale, spinach, and broccoli Fatty fish such as salmon Berries, like blueberries, strawberries, raspberries, or blackberries
Walnuts. Get enough sleep it is no secret that the majority of Americans are lacking in the sleep department. While a few nights of minimal sleep is okay, not getting enough sleep most nights of the week can negatively affect both your short and long-term memory, as well as your ability to concentrate. The recommended amount of sleep trusted Source for adults aged 18 to 60 years old is seven or more hours a night. Older adults may need up to 9 hours per night. To boost your sleep health, try to: Avoid caffeinated beverages after lunchtime.
Switch off all electronic devices an hour before bedtime. The light from these devices can stimulate your brain and prevent you from feeling sleepy.
Take time to wind down. Read a book, take a warm bath, and listen to soothing music.
Keep your bedroom cool and quiet
Set a SMART goal: If your lack of focus is a result of feeling overwhelmed by a complex project, try breaking it down into smaller parts and plugging the smaller steps into the SMART formula. SMART stands for: Specific. What exactly needs to be done?
Measurable. How will you track your progress? Achievable. Is it realistic? Can it be done by the deadline?
Make a commotion list. Distractions are everywhere in our modern working world. Researchers have found it takes up to 25 minutes to regain your focus after being distracted. One easy fix is to create a “not-to-do” list: Whenever you feel the pull to check Facebook or Twitter or follow any other random thought that comes into your head, write it down instead. The act of simply transferring that thought from mind to paper allows you to stay focused on the task. Focus on similar tasks Tired of jumping from one type of thinking to another (aka “multitasking”)? Then pick similar tasks, group them and do one at a time. This makes transitions smoother, and you may find that you get a lot more done by not jumping from one type of task to another. The goal is doing one thing at a time not multitasking this rather relaxes the brain nerves.

Generation Z

How friendship can create happiness and hope

Only small happiness of friendship becomes a support to live. What about wishes, it changes from moment to moment.

Sometimes we bicker with our friends, feel envious of them, or even gossip about each other. So why do we bother with friends? Because they make us burst into laughter when we’re down in the dumps. Because they’re there to slap us on the back and raise a glass when we have good news. And because they play a starring role in some of our most precious memories. You don’t need us to tell you that despite how complicated your platonic relationships may occasionally feel, your friendships enrich your life in profoundly meaningful ways.

While the true benefits of friendships can’t ever be measured (how do you calculate how much joy your best pal has brought to you over the years?), study after study shows that friendships boost our happiness and even our health.
Sure, we all chit chat with our buddies, but when there’s something serious to discuss, hopefully we have a confidant who we can turn to. That’s important because people with the highest levels of wellbeing have more “substantive” conversations than small talk, according to a 2010 study in Psychological Science. When was the last time you had a meaningful conversation with a pal? If you can’t remember, schedule some catch-up time, stat!
Researchers say that daily social support is a key factor in feeling optimistic. Optimism, in turn, increases our satisfaction with life and lowers our risk of depression. Another study published in the Journal of Experimental Social Psychology showed that when we feel that we have social support, our visual perception of challenges actually changes: Mountains look more like molehills.

Students in distress

Students in distress as SC to hear the case on 27th July.
Delhi: University Grants Commission (UGC) stands still about taking exams amid Corona virus pandemic. A group of 31 students has filed the petition against the UGC on its decision to conduct the final year exams till the end of September. The case has now been listed for the hearing on 27th July. On 6th July UGC released the revised guidelines for universities to compulsorily conduct exams for final year students. Because of which students from different states have come together to quash against the new guidelines. Delhi High Court on Wednesday asked UGC to explain if universities can conduct exams through Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ), open choices, presentations and assignments instead of the old form of exams. It has asked the universities to conduct the exams in an online format or offline format (traditional method) or the mixture of both. A Bench headed by Justice LN Rao, before which a petition by 31 students from 13 states and one UT seeking cancellation of final year examinations came up, said the matter would be heard by another Bench led by Justice Ashok Bhushan after two days i.e. on 27th July in Supreme Court.

Media & justice

Happiness is not materialistic
